| I was selling a car for a friend of mine and I got this email: ----------------------------------------------------------- Goodday, ABOUT THE SALE OF YOUR AUTOMOBILE I hereby write on behalf of my boss to make inquires about the automobile advertized for sale. However i will like you to re-state the working condition so i can forward it to my boss for approval of purchase and we can move ahead with the deal. I will be glad to read from you soon. Yours faithfully Bill AdamsThanks ------------------------------------------------------------ The ad described the car's condition in detail, so I didn't feel the need to go over it again. I cut, paste, and sent him the exact description found in the ad. He replied: ------------------------------------------------------------ AGREEMENT ON PAYMENT AND DELIVERY I got the details provided about the auto, and i have accepted to buy. However, i am so busy but will like this deal to run as smooth as possible. My mode of payment will be via electronic check. Echeck is secured and fast and widely known due to recent development in technology. [ www.checkcomposer.com ] will be the provider of this service. All you need to do now is to get a check paper for $20. Once you have the checkpaper i will provide you the password you need to access the account info for your fund. All you need to do is to logon and print out your electronic check at [ www.checkcomposer.com. ] You can then proceed to clear and cash the check at your bank. The cost of procuring the checkpaper will be added to the asking price. Please visit [ www.checkcomposer.com ] to get more info on echeck, you can get checkpaper from officedepot, officemax, staples or any stationery store around.A private shipper will come and pick the auto after receiving payment. I will be waiting to read from you soon. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------- This is what a scam would sound like. This guy never called me even though my phone number was listed in the ad. The car wasn't even worth getting in trouble for. I guess his plan was to make me buy the "check paper" and find something to do with my account information...or something like that.
